The cassette diagram is for reference only to show the four parts to Camera Auto Sensing and to identify their orientation with other features of the cassette.

Long spool end of cassette

Panels 1 & 7 are always conductive.

Panels 2 - 6 = ISO Speed

Panels 8,9,10 = Exposure Length.

Panels 11, 12 = Latitude.


Click on the CAS panel in the Simulator below to change between Silver and Black.

Click on the film strip bars to change the Latent Image Binary Code

The simulator accepts inputs at the CAS panel or the drop down boxes or the Bar Code Number box or the Latent Image Binary Code

** Selecting Frame Numbers if you have Internet Explorer and Win.2000 or Win.XP:

To select a Frame Number, highlight the Frame Number Drop Down box by double clicking and then cycle through the frame numbers with the Up/Down arrow keys.

Note that the maximum frame number is limited by the Film Length Drop Down box.

Read an existing cassette CAS panel.

Mouse click the CAS panel to toggle insulating / non-insulating patches. Black = Insulating. Read Film Length, Film Speed and Film Latitude from the drop down boxes. Note: Cassettes from One Time Use Cameras may not have a CAS panel. You must ignore Film Length, Film Speed and Film Latitude from the drop down boxes if you cannot enter CAS data.



Read an existing cassette bar code number.

Click the New Bar Code button and key in the cassette bar code number, then press ENTER key. Read Artwork code, Product code (Part 1), Generation code (Part 2) and Film Length from the drop down boxes. Compare the bar codes. Note: This does not set the ISO. You set ISO at the CAS panel or the Film speed drop down box.



To view DX component of cassette art work.

Select the following from the drop down boxes: Film Speed, Film Latitude, Film Length, Product code (Part 1), Generation code (Part 2) and Art work code.



What if my CAS panel is damaged?

Mouse click to toggle the suspect panel between insulating and conducting. Observe the drop down boxes to see the effects of the damage.



Read a Latent Image Binary Code.

Mouse click film code bars & spaces to be identical to your negative code. Read Product, Gen. and Frame #. Note: This does not set the ISO. You set ISO at the CAS panel or the Film speed drop down box.



Draw a Latent Image Binary Code.

Select Product & Generation code and Frame number from the Drop Down boxes. Film Length setting limits maximum frame number.

Minimum Browser requirement: Internet Explorer 4.0 with Java enabled (Windows 9x/NT/ME)

Not fully compatible with Internet Explorer and W2000Prof. or XP **
